Welcome to the pen blank choices page. Below you will find links to take you to the material of
your choice. Some of the blanks currently have pictures of pens or other items that were made in
that particular material. Others are of the blanks that were just turned and polished for publication
on this site. As was noted on the home page, these materials are never the same from blank to
blank. Even if two pens were made from the same block of wood, color and figure differences are a
matter of fact.
Woods shown here are more common than the higher priced
exotic or rare wood. It comes from all over the world and the
United States.
Woods shown here are usually rare, have a high figure and are
not usually found in large quantities. Most of these are
imported and are higher priced than the more common woods.
Woods shown here have the highest figure and are usually in
short supply. These woods demand the highest prices as they
are the most strikingly beautiful woods available.
These blanks are an entirely man made material. They usually
are bright and multi-colored with lots of swirls. They are
either acrylic acetate or celluloid.
Blanks here are man made from a polyester resin (fiberglass).
They usually are bright and multi-colored with plenty of figure.
You can use these pages to view many choices of material for your project. They are representative
of the blanks and should be used as such. Some wood species have colors that vary widely, while
others are fairly consistant. Also, every monitor will display color differently. Please take this into
account. We will do our best to present you with a writing instrument you will be proud of.
